At the botanika in Bremen, the landscapes of Asia meet an interactive world of experience and live animals in huge glass halls. Until now, the 6,000m2 exhibition space has been mostly analogue - mainly using text panels. In a project lasting more than a year, an extremely complex digital level has now been introduced, which will transport the exciting content via mobile devices, terminals and elaborate, interactive projections in future.

Six digital tracks

Due to its wide range of topics, the botanika offers several points of contact in terms of content. It would therefore have been a shame to limit ourselves to just one of them. Visitors can therefore choose before their tour whether they want to experience the exhibition together with a historical butterfly researcher, an animal keeper, a species conservationist, a mysterious plant creature, a traveller or a Buddhist mentor. Each of the six protagonists appears virtually on the audience's mobile devices and involves them in a dialogue.

The content communication techniques are also very different:
For example, the zookeeper's tour relies on elements of the escape game, while the butterfly researcher lets the audience experience the tour with the help of an interactive travel diary. The conservationist prefers to communicate via chat and video messages. And if you opt for the tour with the mentor, editorial content takes a back seat in favour of meditation and mindfulness exercises.

Immersion
The scenography is not the only thing that immerses you in the "botanika" experience: The crowning glory of each of the six tour lines is the "World of Diversity".
This is an immersive 180-degree projection that reacts to users by recognising their gestures: During their tour, visitors create a digital fantasy creature on their mobile device, which they can transfer to the surrounding digital jungle landscape and then animate using their own body movements. Great fun - especially for the young audience.
