The MediaGuide for the centre of the European Capital of Culture.

The Zollverein World Heritage Site - also known as the most beautiful colliery in the world - is today one of the most impressive industrial monuments in the world and the centre of the creative industries in the Ruhr region.

the first shaft was built in 1847, the last coal was mined in 1986 and the coking plant was shut down in 1993.
in 2001, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. History, culture, creativity, events, catering, leisure: Zollverein offers all of this to around one million visitors a year.

Project report

Discover Zollverein in the past and present, as a place for architecture, nature, art and culture - visitors can now do all this for themselves with the xpedeo Mediaguide ZOLLVEREIN®.
The media guide, which is available in five languages, uses sound, images, video and text to open up and explain what is on offer at the colliery and coking plant.
For visitors who want to explore Zollverein and the Ruhr Museum individually and for foreign-language visitors to the Metropole Ruhr, the media guide is the perfect addition to the visitor offer.

The ZOLLVEREIN® media guide was developed by the Zollverein Foundation and the Ruhr Museum together with InformationsGesellschaft mbh and the agency jangled nerves GmbH. It can be used in three areas:
On the site, it provides information about the function and architecture of the buildings, art and industrial nature. Using GPS, visitors always know where they are and in which direction they are looking.
In the Ruhr Museum, visitors can find in-depth information on the exhibits and themes of the permanent and special exhibitions.
In the monument trail, it is the perfect addition for foreign-language visitors, who receive information in their native language as part of the tour.

For optimum handling, the standard devices disappear into an elegant and robust black guide case. This in turn is connected to a lanyard specially developed for this purpose, which is particularly comfortable to carry.
